To honor its commitment to giving back to local communities , CalMac has implemented the CalMac Community Fund . This fund aims to improve the lives of people residing in CalMac ’ s communities by supporting nonprofit groups in achieving their goals . Since its launch in 2019 , the CalMac Community Fund has supported 258 groups during challenging circumstances delivering numerous benefits along the way . First and foremost , CalMac ’ s efforts have led to positive health and wellbeing outcomes , including improvements in physical health , and psychological and emotional wellbeing . Additionally , there have been social and community results , such as enhanced social engagement and cohesion , reduced isolation , and increased cultural awareness among local stakeholders . The fund has also championed education and technical , recreational , and life skills attainment .
Furthermore , it has contributed to the creation of more work and volunteering opportunities , the latter totaling 1734 volunteering hours . Lastly , by focusing on environmental issues , the CalMac Community Fund has raised awareness of local environmental challenges and promoted sustainable living practices .
