Ferries
positioned CalMac as a recognized leader of seagoing apprenticeships . The company even earned a spot among the top five UK companies for maritime apprenticeship schemes , as designated by the Merchant Navy Training Board . Since the scheme was first set up in 2013 , more than 150 ambitious young people have received comprehensive training . Last year , all the apprentices who successfully completed the program transitioned into permanent roles within CalMac . They are currently stationed on vessels across the network and come from diverse places such as Benbecula , Eriskay , Bute , and Inverclyde .
By prioritizing the welfare of its communities and fostering workforce development , CalMac is poised to continue its longstanding tradition of fostering connectivity and providing excellent ferry transport services in Scotland for many more decades . ■
