Built on responsiveness and practical problem-solving, BioMarsh Environmental has grown over more than five decades from a family farm operation into a nationwide specialist in environmental logistics. What began with a single tanker supporting a pig farm has evolved into a 250-vehicle fleet delivering time-critical services to water authorities, construction sites and utilities across the UK.
Established by Rod and Margaret Travers at their Waltham Abbey farm in the 1970s, the company’ s origins remain central to how it operates today. The first septic tank, bought to support the piggery and streamline local waste removal, laid the foundation for a business built around solving immediate, real-world problems.
Managing Director Brian Driver highlights that the founding family remains actively involved, with multiple generations contributing to day-to-day operations.
“ Essentially, BioMarsh was born from Rod Travers purchasing a tanker for his pig farm, which led to the national operation we’ re running now,” he says.
“ Originally our work mainly comprised domestic septic tank services, but we now operate over 250 vehicles across the UK. Primarily we support water authorities with over-pumping and pollution prevention works, and we partner with most of the major water utility companies to deliver flood risk mitigation within communities.”
Scaling services for water authorities and beyond
BioMarsh carries out sewer jetting and technical services including drain and sewer inspections for both water authorities and domestic customers. The company has expanded into full turnkey solutions, offering patch lining, drain rehabilitation, septic tank installation and civils plant work. tlimagazine. com 61
