“ We, like many industries, have sadly seen an increase in antisocial behavior, so it’ s really important that we use whatever technology that we can to prevent it,” Sarah says.“ At the moment, we’ re working with an AI provider on a project that uses our CCTV systems to detect and highlight behavioral changes so we can spot antisocial behavior before it happens. We have an excellent relationship with Nottinghamshire Police and have an embedded officer who works within our control team who is helping us to develop this pilot.”
As NET looks to the future, its focus remains firmly on building a network that is not only efficient and reliable, but also responsive to the evolving needs of the communities it serves. From its continued investment in accessibility, customer experience, and innovative safety solutions, the company continues to demonstrate a clear commitment to long-term resilience and improvement and is well-positioned to remain at the heart of Nottingham’ s transport sector for many more decades to come.
“ For us, 2026 is all about stability,” Sarah reveals, looking to the rest of the year.“ We had a tough year in 2025 where we saw an unprecedented amount of traffic collisions, most of which were out of our control; at one point, we had four trams down for repairs, which required us to put an emergency timetable in place to make sure that we could provide a reliable service for our customers.
“ Our trams are now all repaired, so we want to focus on maintaining stability and perfecting the basics,” she says, concluding our conversation.“ We’ re focusing heavily on working with local authorities to improve the interface between trams, road vehicles, and the public to ensure that we can work together to reduce both collisions and antisocial behavior.” ■
